A JAG attorney's work is never done. After his on the high profile cases featured in Secret Sanction and Mortal Allies, Sean Drummond is summoned to the Leavenworth, Kansas military penitentiary. He's there to meet his latest client, Bill Morrison, who is charged with providing information to Russia in acts of treason larger than any the country has ever seen.

This case is Sean's most difficult to date. Bill is a pompous, power hungry officer who just happens to be married to Sean's old flame. The prosecution is headed by Eddie Golden, a jerk in his own right who has defeated Sean twice. Drummond would like to put Golden in his place, but the cards are stacked against the defense.

Sean's co-counsel is Katrina Mazorski, a spunky Russian-speaking woman and polar opposite of her clean-cut counterpart. Back for a third installment is Sean's indispensable assistant Imelda Pepperfield. The prosecution has been on the case for six months. Drummond and crew must work fast to uncover the real story behind the charges. Their story is told in The Kingmaker.

Haig's third novel is carefully plotted and thoroughly engaging. Sean and Katrina head to Russia where they uncover information suggesting that their client may be a pawn in a larger operation. What they find may cost them their lives.

The Kingmaker is Brian Haig's best novel yet. His lead character is cocky, humorous and flawed enough to get into some serious jams. Sean's interactions with Eddie the nemesis and the strict, motherly Imelda are memorable.

This classic military thriller contains complex strategies within elaborate American and Russian networks. Fortunately, Haig spins a suspenseful yarn that readers can easily follow. The Kingmaker is full of surprising developments that will satisfy suspense addicts and convince them to read other novels by this talented author.
