Anna Percy has only been in town two weeks and already she has her share of friends and enemies. She left behind her New York well-bred life to reunite with her father and spend her final semester at Beverly Hills High School. Anna met the luscious Ben Birnbaum on the plane ride West. He and the rest of the cast were introduced in Zoey Dean’s series debut: The A-List.
Blonde Ambition is the third installment, arriving on the heels of the jaw-dropping developments of Girls on Film. Anna’s nemesis, Cammie Sheppard, isn’t used to sharing the spotlight. She pulls out all the stops to try and make Anna’s life miserable.
However, beauty, brains and a little luck are in Anna’s favor. She’s earned an internship on Hollywood’s hottest new television show and the hearts of Ben and several other men.
Blonde Ambition takes place outside of school in the Beverly Hills teen social scene. Great liberties are taken with the setting and events, but the delicious dirt on the characters covers up any flaws. Dean’s novels model Cecily vonZiegesar’s popular Gossip Girl series, but with a Hollywood twist.
The A-List series is geared toward teens. Blonde Ambition is a quick read. The novel has brief implied sex and underage drinking, but nothing graphic. Dean’s series is like those teen shows you watch religiously in private, yet in public you refuse to admit you’re hooked.
